The CAS-5 Combustion Analysis System consists of a high-stability in-cylinder optical pressure transducer, amplifier, precision optical crank angle encoder with TDC trigger mark, and a synchronized DAQ interface.
Unlike traditional piezo-electric sensors prone to thermal drift, the CAS-5 uses non-contact optical diaphragm deflection sensing for zero signal drift over long testing sessions. The DAQ clock is locked directly to the 1-degree crank angle signal, vastly simplifying P-V diagrams, IMEP, and mass fraction burned calculations.
